Engine—The Exhaust

The Kissel Model 6-55 advanced six-cylinder engine

EXHAUST MANIFOLD: The exhaust manifold has broken mounting ears and leaks. This image is a composite of five separate photos.

The exhaust manifold is cracked in several places around the mounting holes. It is leaking some exhaust gas. The broken parts need to be welded and the manifold should be machined flat.

The exhaust pipe connecting the exhaust manifold with the muffler is made from flexible pipe. The original factory exhaust pipe was solid, so the flexible pipe should eventually be replaced.

The muffler appears to be all in one piece without any exterior holes. However, the exhaust note of Bugsby is a little too loud in Lynn's opinion. Maybe some of the internal baffles have corroded. Lynn thinks that a replacement muffler should eventually be installed but this isn't a high priority.
