Chassis—Chassis Lubrication Fittings

The chassis of a Kissel Model 6-55 showing the numerous
items requiring frequent lubrication

LUBRICATION FITTINGS: The Alemite pin-type grease fittings that were installed in the car is shown in the far left photo. Lynn has temporarily installed "fake" grease cup fittings (right three photos) on the car until he can locate appropriate oil cups.

When Lynn received Bugsby, it had Alemite pin-type grease fittings on the chassis lubrication points. Initially Lynn thought these were the original fittings, and he spent a fair amount of energy and some time getting a grease gun that would work. Later Lynn learns during a telephone conversation with Dave Arnold that this vehicle had been originally fitted with oil cups on the chassis. However Lynn has not yet identified a source for acquiring these cups.

While searching for oil cups for the chassis, Lynn discovers Zerk grease cup fittings on Snyder's Antique Auto Parts web site. Since the Alemite fittings are no more historically correct than grease cups, and they're a lot more difficult to fill than Zerk-type grease fittings, Lynn converts all the Alemite fittings to these "fake" grease cups. It is Lynn's intention to replace these grease cups with oil cups once a supply is found.
