Interior—Instrument Panel

A view of the uphostery department at the Kissel factory

INSTRUMENT PANEL: The instrument panel of Bugsby (left) and that shown in the Kissel operating manual of the Model 6-55 (right). According to the manual, the choke is in the wrong place, the ignition and fuse boxes have been switched, and the oil pressure gauge isn't original.

INSTRUMENTS: Considerable work remains with the instruments. Shown on the top row, an electric clock (left), the oil pressure gauge (center) and the ammeter (right). On the bottom row, the fuse panel (left), the ignition switch (center) and the speedometer (right).

There are multiple issues on and under the instrument panel. Major problems visible from the front are that the speedometer isn't working and the VDO electric clock is of the wrong vintage and manufacturer. More subtle issues are the oil pressure gauge (0-100 PSI) which has too wide of a pressure range to be original equipment as the original appears to be have a narrower range (0-25 PSI) according to the picture in instruction manual. The face of the ammeter has deteriorated. All the instrument faces need to be restored to be up to the highest Concours d'Elegance standards.
