Exterior—Bugsby Gets Some New Wheels

Lynn in Bugsby, September 5, 2005

Completed: 2006-04-26 — Started: 2006-04-24

NEW WHEELS: Kevin Schell builds a clever stand to support Bugsby's body.

Work Completed:
After spending a month working hunched over Bugsby's body supported by a low wheeled dolly, Kevin Schell decides he needs a better solution. He builds his own frame to bring the body up to a comfortable working height. He adds handle, wheels and steering knuckles from a new garden wagon that he bought at a local hardware store. Kevin finds that buying the wheels and axles on a garden wagon is way cheaper than buying these items separately.

Although this dolly was built specially for Bugsby, Kevin has designed it to be reused in his shop for multiple vehicles. Two adapters (silvery metal in the pictures) that bolt to the cars frame sit in black tubes that are part of the dolly. This way, Bugsby can be quickly lifted off so the dolly can be used to transport or work on a different project. Good idea, don't you think?

Work Remaining:
None.
