Exterior—Golf Bags

Official company photograph of the 1924 Kissel
Model 6-55 Speedster

GOLF BAG AND CLUBS: The old bag (top left - the golf bag, not Jeanne) that came with Bugsby, and a new replica golf bag (top, three photos to right). Authentic period golf clubs (bottom row) complete the look.

A unique exterior feature of the Kissel Speedster is the two golf bag holders, one on each rear fender of the vehicle. Bugsby arrived with an old leather bag, without clubs, but the bag is not good shape.

Lynn watches the eBay auctions for about a month before he bids on this very nice set of wood shaft irons and early metal shaft club. When Lynn askes the seller about these clubs, he is given the following information.

  • MacGregor, Popular Mashie S – L, Dot Face Stamped Shaft (circa 1915)
  • MacGregor, Popular Mashie OA, Dashed Face, Stamped Shaft (circa 1915)
  • Hendry & Bishop; Edinburgh Special, MITRE Brand, #2 Iron, Dot Face (circa 1925)
  • Hendry & Bishop; Edinburgh Special, MITRE Brand, #3 Iron 145, Dot Face (circa 1925)
  • Wright & Ditson Accurate St. Andrews, Mid-Iron, Dot Face (circa 1910)
  • PGA Mid-Iron P-20, Line Face (circa 1935)
  • The Macgregor Spoon (or #3 Wood) (circa 1935)

Separately, Lynn spents a month looking for a suitable golf bag for his new clubs with very little success. He finally settles on a reasonably priced replica golf bag from TNT Golf. A representative from TNT says that the bag is based on a 1930's design. Lynn isn't completely happy with this bag as it is made from nylon and vinyl, rather than canvas and leather. Also it is a little too modern by about 10 years. While it is adequate for his current purposes, Lynn intends to eventually find a higher quality bag for Bugsby.
