The Initial FresheningGo to <Last, Summary, Next>Exterior—Rag Top
One of the most obvious defect of Bugsby can be most easily seen from the distance of about 50' -- the top is missing! The factory photo of a 1924 Kissel Speedster shows what the top should look like in the up position. Unfortunately, the previous owner had none of the old top hardware so Lynn will have to fabricate this from scratch. Fortunately, Dale Anderson was able to supply Lynn with multiple letter sized photocopies of a larger measured drawing of a Speedster. Lynn uses his scanner and Photoshop to create a composite drawing that he will use in his effort to recreate the top. The drawing doesn't seem to be exactly that of a 1924 Model 6-55 Speedster. For example, the running boards in the drawing look more like that on the 1927 model year. Nevertheless, the top is likely to be very similar, if not exactly that needed for Bugsby. Also note the missing leather arm rest on the top of the door shown in the factory photo. Contact with your comments or questions Copyright © 2018 Lynn Kissel Last updated: May 24, 2009 |
